Worlds purest copper
These copper shavings are from batches of the world’s purest copper, which is being “grown” by a process called electroforming in a clean room 4,850 feet underground in the Sanford Underground Research Facility. The copper, almost totally free of impurities, is being used to make parts for the MAJORANA DEMONSTRATOR experiment. Photo credit: Matthew Kapust.
